While this year in sport has been far from normal, the NFL season has had its own share of surprises. With the Bills, Browns and Bucs all winning on Wild Card weekend, we are seeing a new crop of underdog teams take their shot at the Vince Lombardi trophy.
A lifelong athlete, I understand the impact that sport can have on communities. As the maps below show us, not only are professional sporting venues major civic landmarks, they also tend to shape the city around them, as well. From classic stadiums like Chicago's Soldier Field to a whole new generation of venues like Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, stadiums are hugely important to the composition of America's many downtown cores.
To celebrate this playoff season, Tapestry Maps is selling prints of each map below, which includes each team's stadium in their team colors. Minimalistic but detailed, these maps seek to include the surrounding environment as part of each stadium. We wanted to make something that devoted fans and local supporters could identify with, maps that could bring up old memories and tell a story, too.
